Triumphal arch

In 11th of May 1891 Vladivostok was visited by His Imperial Highness the Sovereign heir—Tsarevich Nicholas, who later became the last emperor of the Russian Empire. Vladivostok was to become the first city in the way of returning the heir to St. Petersburg from a trip to Japan. Then, in a number of cities where he would attend triumphal arches were constructed. That emphasized the solemnity of the event—the arrival of the expectatnt emperor.

But only 30 years later the construction was destroyed during the Soviet era. Nearly a hundred years later Vladivostok residents decided to revive the story. Restoration of the monument occurred in the 135-year anniversary of the birth and 85 th anniversary of the tragic death of the last Russian tsar and his family. The project is a triumphal arch is based on historical information. In May 2003 its grand opening was held.
