Arseniev Museum

Arseniev Museum is the oldest museum in the Far East and Eastern Siberia, located in the downtown area, in the building, which is an architectural monument of the XIX century. Museum. Arsenyev founded in 1884 and opened to visitors in 1890 as the Museum Society for the Study of the Amur region. Fixed assets of the museum was laid in the late XIX century ethnographic, archaeological collections in the formation of which involved ivestnye researchers.

Already in 1891 the museum opened the exhibition of collections of birds and animals. In 1895, created the first static display, "Nature Ussuri. Natural history museum collections have been exhibited at international, nationwide, regional exhibitions, including at the Paris World Exhibition in 1900. The hall, which shows a multi-ethnic heritage of the city, presented a unique exhibit—a poster that tells about the heroism of an Orthodox priest, the 11 th of the East Siberian shelf Stepan Vasilyevich Shcherbakovskaya, a member of the Russian-Japanese war in the battle for Tyurenchenskoy position.
