Oceanarium of Vladivostok

Oceanarium of Vladivostok is one of the main attractions of Vladivostok.

The subject of exhibits of Vladivostok Oceanarium is mainly devoted to the Pacific Ocean. Visitors will find here seal’s rookery, a groups of seabirds, penguins, hiding in the coral reefs Latimer, sponges, mollusks. Animals live in thirteen tanks of various sizes. Freshwater inhabitants of the Far East Rivers and Japanese Sea and tropical seas greatly settled here. There are special aquariums for animals of cold Japanese and Okhotsk Seas are available in Oceanarium.

Vladivostok Oceanarium is also the maritime museum. The collection of exhibits (more than 2000 marine animals) is unique by the facts that among of them are truly rare examples: Bicentennial skull sea cow, decorative tropical fish, Pacific sea otter albino…

The Oceanarium is equipped with Scientific Library and research laboratory on the basis of which the study of marine fauna is going on.

It is planned to build another oceanarium in Vladivostok, which will combine the best features of modern oceanariums. In the meantime, Vladivostok oceanarium is the only one at eastern Russia and successfully copes with its task of educating people.
