Route Vladivostok—Khasan region—Vladivostok

We attract your attention to Khasan Region, Primorsky Krai. The region occupies only 2.5% of the Primorye territory, however, it is of deserving attention in the history of Primorsky Krai and Russia as a whole. It is situated in the extreme south point of Primorsky Krai and is stretching from the south to the north along the western shores of the Peter the Great Gulf.

It borders on Ussuriisk and Nadezhdensky regions of Primorsky Krai in the north and the state frontier with the Peoples Republic of China lies in the west. The region borders on the Peoples Democratic Republic of Korea along the river Tumangan in the south.

The cost of the Peter the Great Gulf is a natural frontier in the east. The territory of the region comprises more than 20 islands which are situated on the adjoining water areas, the largest of them being Bolshoi Pelis, Furugelma, Stenina, Antipenko and Sibiryakova.

The only state sea reserve in Russia is situated in this region as well as “Kedrovaya Padj”preserve (Cedar Dale), the richest in the variety of flora and fauna; the unique preserve “Barsovy” where the rarest in the world feline species—Far Eastern leopard—is kept.

As if in it kaleidoscope, each turn of the road in Khasan region creates new unique impressions as the nature itself laid down in the basis of the region low hills, small valleys with emerald greenery, mild climate, well warmed-up water, unique beauty of the enchanting underwater world, wonderful sandy and shingly beaches, wrecks, clean sea, infinite necklace of bays with numerous lagoons, spits, channels and lakes. You can see amazing islands covered with forest, bushes and grass, islets and simply picturesque above-water rocks—"kekurs’, separated from each other by shallow water sounds filled with stones. There are multi-stratum archaeological monuments with the remnants of temples, dwellings, workshops, wells, tools, different objects of cult and life of ancient cultures. You can see with your own eyes birds, insects and animals many of which were entered into the “Red book” and don’t exist in any other place on the world map.
